BICSI Installer 2. Optical Fiber Training
BICSl's IN250 course is a 4.5-day course (8 a.m.-5 p.m.) and offers 35 continuing education credits (CECs). It is 5.5 days for students planning to take the credential exam. The optional exam is conducted in two parts: the hands-on exam is on Friday afternoon, and the written exam is on Saturday morning.

Course Description
The IN250 course sets the groundwork for optical fiber-based structured cabling system installation. The course will open with an overview of professionalism, fiber transmission principles and the general safety practices related to optical fiber cabling. A significant amount of course time will then be spent on installation, splicing, termination and testing of optical fiber cable.

Course Materials
BICSl's Information Technology Systems Installation Methods Manual (ITS/MM 7th Edition) is required for each student in this course.

Preparation
Studying the lTSlMM a minimum of 50 hours before class begins is recommended for class and exam success.

Exam Requirements
Students must have two years of verifiable experience within the last five years to sit for the Optical Fiber exam. Please review the BICSI Exam Application and Information Handbook for further details at
bicsi.org/i n 2 fiber.

Exam Process
A completed exam application, including the experience checklist (Form D) must be received by BICSI for processing 15 business days prior to the exam date. Applications received less than 15 business days prior to the start date will incur a $75.00 per application expedite fee. Applications cannot be accepted less than 5 business days prior to the exam date.
